IB2 announces the launching of an innovative and breakthrough technology for low grade bauxite refining
1st April 2019
Live from the Bauxite & Alumina Conference in Miami, Romain GIRBAL, General Manager of IB2 announced the launching of an innovative and breakthrough technology for low grade bauxite refining.
“We are happy to announce that after several years of development and testing we came up with an innovative and easy to implement technology that will answer the multiples challenges faced by the industry. IB2 will allow alumina refineries to process low-grade bauxite generating less red muds and allowing huge operating expenses consuming less raw material”, says Romain GIRBAL.
Starting from the observation of both market trends and supply constraints undergone by some refineries IB2 was developed by a team of experts as an easy to implement technology to provide quick results.
“IB2 was developed to allow the process and valuation of low-grade bauxite ores. Curbed by the environmental and financial constraints involved by the exploitation of low-grade bauxite, refineries have so far preferred to import bauxite. IB2 is real game changer for them: while securing their supply, refineries will adopt a profitable and environment friendly solution”, pursues Romain GIRBAL.
About IB2

IB2 was founded in 2014.
The technology was developed by a team of 10 professionals cumulating 250 years of experience in the bauxite and alumina industry, especially in Bayer process and diasporic bauxites.
IB2 benefits from the experience of a strong Management Board headed by Anne LAUVERGEON (Ex Chairman and CEO of Areva) and including Laurent MUSY (CEO of Terreal and Ex-President of Alcan Bauxite) as well as Romain GIRBAL and Thibault LAUNAY (Co-founders of Alliance Minière Responsable).
